**JERUSALEM, November 20, 2024** – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a $5 million reward for anyone who secures the release of hostages held in Gaza. Speaking in a video filmed within the Gaza Strip, near the Netzarim Corridor, Mr. Netanyahu, wearing body armor, promised safe passage and the reward for anyone who facilitates the hostages’ release.
“Anybody who brings out a hostage will find with us a secure way for them and their family to leave Gaza,” he stated. He added a stern warning: “Anyone who dares to harm our hostages is considered dead – we will pursue you and we will catch up with you.”
The offer comes amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza, which began with a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. While 251 hostages were initially taken, 97 remain in Gaza, with 34 confirmed dead. Mr. Netanyahu, alongside Defense Minister Israel Katz, reiterated Israel’s war aims, emphasizing the prevention of Hamas rule in Gaza and a commitment to locating and returning all hostages, “alive or dead.” The Israeli government is actively pursuing efforts to locate and bring the hostages home.
