Wed Nov 20 23:14:00 UTC 2024: ## YSRCP Chief Slams Andhra Pradesh Government’s Growth Rate Claims

**Vijayawada, November 20, 2024** – YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a scathing attack on the ruling Andhra Pradesh government, refuting its claims of a plummeting growth rate during his party’s tenure. Addressing the media, Reddy presented counter-statistics to bolster the YSRCP’s performance.

Reddy challenged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s assertion that the state’s growth rate fell from 13.5% (2014-19) to 10.6% (2019-24), arguing that the drop was influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic which affected the entire nation. He highlighted that despite the pandemic, Andhra Pradesh’s growth in sectors like manufacturing outperformed the national average. He further cited the socio-economic survey tabled in the Assembly as evidence supporting the YSRCP’s claims.

Reddy also dismissed claims of a sharp decline in per capita income under YSRCP rule, alleging that the previous TDP government had overdrawn FRBM limits by ₹28,457 crore during 2014-19, negatively impacting subsequent economic performance. Despite this, he maintained that the YSRCP government achieved superior performance in compounded annual growth, per capita income, and overall growth rate.

Accusing Naidu and his associates of spreading misinformation, Reddy stated that their efforts were aimed at masking the current government’s failure to deliver on its election promises, including the “Super Six” initiatives. He criticized the government’s inability to fulfill even smaller promises like free bus travel for women and free LPG cylinders, while highlighting the YSRCP government’s creation of 1.3 lakh jobs in village secretariats and the recruitment of 2.66 lakh volunteers. In contrast, Reddy alleged the current government has laid off volunteers and terminated 15,000 jobs in the beverage corporation.
