**Mumbai, October 25, 2024** – Maharashtra witnessed a diverse voter turnout across its districts during the state assembly elections, with Marathwada region recording a healthy average of 60.63% by 5 PM, according to official data. However, this figure contrasts sharply with lower turnouts in major metropolitan areas.

Marathwada, comprising eight districts and 46 assembly segments, saw Jalna district leading with 64.17% voter participation, while Nanded recorded the lowest at 55.88%. Sillod constituency in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district boasted the highest turnout in the region at 70.46%, a figure significantly boosted by the presence of prominent candidate and Shiv Sena leader Abdul Sattar.

Statewide, the voter turnout reached 58.22% by 5 PM, with Gadchiroli district emerging as the top performer at 69.63%. In contrast, Mumbai’s turnout remained relatively low, with Mumbai city recording 49.07% and Mumbai suburbs at 51.76%. Individual Mumbai assembly segments showed even greater disparity, ranging from Colaba’s 41.64% to Mahim’s 55.23%.

Other key constituencies also saw varied participation. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Kopri-Pachpakhadi constituency in Thane recorded 55.77%, while Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s Nagpur South-West constituency saw a 51.54% turnout. The high-profile Baramati constituency, where Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar contested, recorded 62.31%.

The Nanded Lok Sabha bypoll held concurrently saw a 53.78% voter turnout by 5 PM. With over 9.7 crore eligible voters and 4,136 candidates, the election saw a significant contest between the Mahayuti alliance (BJP, Shiv Sena, Ajit Pawar’s NCP) and the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance (Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), Sharad Pawar’s NCP).
