**Amersham, England** – Former One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson reunited Wednesday to pay their respects to Liam Payne at his funeral. The private service, held at the historic St. Mary’s Church in Amersham, saw the attendance of Payne’s family, friends, and several prominent figures from the entertainment industry.

Payne, 31, died last month after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His death was ruled accidental, but an ongoing investigation has resulted in charges against three individuals for “abandonment of a person followed by death” and “supplying and facilitating the use of narcotics.” Toxicology reports indicated the presence of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in Payne’s system at the time of his death.

The funeral, kept largely private to avoid large crowds, still drew dozens of fans and local residents to the area. One mourner, 20-year-old Tara Lloyd, commented on the impact Payne’s death had, stating, “Growing up, I was a massive fan of One Direction, so I almost felt like a little piece of the child in me was gone.”

The service included a horse-drawn carriage carrying Payne’s casket, adorned with white roses and floral tributes reading “Son” and “Daddy.” Among the mourners were Payne’s parents, Geoff and Karen; his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy; his son, Bear; and prominent figures such as actor and presenter James Corden, former soccer player Robbie Keane, and music mogul Simon Cowell, who originally formed One Direction.

One Direction, formed in 2010 after the five members auditioned for “The X-Factor,” achieved global superstardom. Following the band’s hiatus in 2016, Payne pursued a solo career. He had also been open about his struggles with mental health and substance abuse. Cowell, visibly emotional, embraced Payne’s parents after the service.
