Thu Nov 21 07:14:11 UTC 2024: ## Kanguva’s Box Office Run Slows After Strong Opening Weekend

**CHENNAI, INDIA** – The Suriya Sivakumar and Bobby Deol starrer, *Kanguva*, which opened strongly at the box office on November 14th, 2024, is experiencing a significant slowdown in its weekday performance. While the action fantasy drama enjoyed a successful opening weekend, daily collections have fallen considerably.

According to Sacnilk, the film earned just ₹2.40 crore on its seventh day, bringing its total net collection to ₹62.40 crore. This suggests the film may struggle to reach the ₹100 crore mark, a common benchmark for successful Tamil films. Occupancy rates have also dropped significantly, with Tamil occupancy at 13.72% and Hindi occupancy at a mere 9.08% on Day 7.

The film, which features a storyline spanning two timelines – a historical hero in the 1700s and a present-day cop – stars Suriya Sivakumar, Disha Patani, Aarash Shah, Karthik Sivakumar and Yogi Babu. Despite the star-studded cast and intriguing premise, *Kanguva* has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike.

Adding to the challenges, Prime Video has already acquired the digital rights to the film, announcing its post-theatrical release on their platform. The announcement on X highlighted the film’s time-traveling narrative: “A story that travels 500 years from 1700’s to 2023 about a Hero who has to fulfil a mission left unfinished.” This may further impact box office performance as audiences anticipate the film’s streaming availability.
