**PHOENIX, AZ** – The NBA is reportedly investigating the New York Knicks’ promotion of assistant coach Rick Brunson, father of Knicks star Jalen Brunson, prompting a statement from the team and a defense from Jalen himself.

The investigation, according to MSG Sports, focuses on Rick Brunson’s promotion and salary increase this past summer, coinciding with Jalen’s four-year, $156 million contract extension. MSG Sports insists Rick Brunson simply replaced former associate head coach Johnnie Bryant at the same salary, calling the investigation “harassment” stemming from the Knicks’ opposition to unspecified NBA matters.

Jalen Brunson, speaking Wednesday morning, strongly defended his father’s qualifications, highlighting his extensive NBA experience and close working relationship with head coach Tom Thibodeau. He stated he had not been contacted by the league regarding the investigation. He emphasized his father’s long-standing coaching experience and impact on his own career.
