**NEW DELHI** – Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is poised to electrify its lineup with the launch of its first electric two-wheeler, tentatively named the Honda Activa Electric, on November 27th. The company has been teasing the scooter in short video clips, revealing key features ahead of the official unveiling.
A recent teaser showcased the Activa Electric’s standout feature: a pair of removable batteries housed under the seat. This aligns with HMSI’s global strategy, mirroring the removable battery system found in its recently unveiled CUV-e. While specifics on battery capacity remain undisclosed, earlier teasers suggested a range exceeding 100 km on a single charge. The current teaser demonstrated the ease of battery removal and replacement at a swappable battery charging station.
Beyond the battery system, the Activa Electric boasts a TFT screen, hinting at advanced connectivity features. The scooter will also offer two ride modes – standard and sport – and LED lighting. Upon launch, the Activa Electric is expected to compete directly with established electric scooters such as the TVS iQube, Ather 450X, and Bajaj Chetak. HMSI has yet to release pricing or full specifications for the new model.
