**Hukkeri, Belagavi, November 20, 2024** – A tragic drowning incident claimed the lives of a fisherman and his two sons in the Ghataprabha River near Benakana Holi village on Monday. Lakshmana Ram Ambali (45) and his sons, Ramesh (15) and Yallappa (13), perished while fishing. The family reported them missing after they failed to return home. Police and Fire and Emergency Services personnel recovered the bodies.
Minister Satish Jarkiholi visited the grieving family on Wednesday, offering immediate compensation of ₹10.5 lakh. He assured further assistance from the state and union governments, including a widow’s pension for Ambali’s wife and a government-subsidized house. Leaders Prabhakar Kore and Mahantesh Kavatagimath also offered their condolences.
