Thu Nov 21 03:20:42 UTC 2024: ## Florida Man Arrested for Alleged Plot to Bomb New York Stock Exchange

**New York, NY – November 21, 2024** – A Florida man has been arrested and charged with plotting to bomb the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in an attempt to “reboot” the U.S. government, the FBI announced today. Harun Abdul-Malik Yener, 30, of Coral Springs, Florida, faces charges of attempting to use an explosive device to damage a building used in interstate commerce.

The FBI investigation began in February following a tip about Yener storing bomb-making materials in a storage unit. Authorities found bomb-making sketches, timers, electronic components, and other materials consistent with explosive device construction. Further investigation revealed online searches related to bomb-making dating back to 2017.

According to court documents, Yener told undercover FBI agents he planned to detonate a bomb at the NYSE the week before Thanksgiving, aiming to create a significant event that would “wake people up.” He allegedly believed the bombing would effectively “reboot” the government, describing the impact as “like a small nuke went off.”

Yener, who is described as unhoused, recently modified two-way radios to function as remote detonators and planned to wear a disguise while planting the explosives. He has a history of making threats, including a prior incident where he threatened violence at his workplace, leading to his dismissal. He also attempted to join the far-right groups “Boogaloo Bois” and the “Proud Boys,” but was rejected due to his stated desire for “martyrdom.” Additionally, Yener reportedly posted videos online demonstrating the construction of explosives and fireworks from household materials.

Yener appeared in court Wednesday and is currently being held in detention pending trial. Attempts to reach Yener for comment were unsuccessful.
