Thu Nov 21 15:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Former Blackhawks Captain Toews Undergoes Ayurvedic Detox in India

**Chicago, IL** – Three-time Stanley Cup champion Jonathan Toews, recently released from the Chicago Blackhawks, has revealed he spent five weeks in India undergoing a traditional Ayurvedic Panchakarma detox as part of his ongoing health journey. The 36-year-old, who announced a break from hockey in August due to long COVID and chronic immune response syndrome, shared his experience on Instagram.

Toews, who played 53 games last season before becoming a free agent, detailed his struggles with persistent inflammatory and immune system issues over the past five years. He cited the Ayurvedic treatment as a significant step in his recovery, explaining that the Panchakarma protocol aimed to cleanse and detoxify his body.

“It’s been almost 5 years of searching for a way to heal…The wisdom of Ayurveda has taught me that everything I experience, I am responsible for,” Toews wrote in his post. He also highlighted the holistic approach of Ayurveda, emphasizing its focus on diet, mindfulness, and aligning with natural rhythms.

The former Blackhawks captain’s announcement comes after the team opted not to re-sign him following a successful, albeit injury-plagued, 2022-2023 season. Toews, a Chicago hockey icon, played his entire 17-year NHL career with the Blackhawks after being drafted third overall in 2006. He boasts an impressive career record of 372 goals and 511 assists over 1,067 games, culminating in three Stanley Cup wins and numerous individual awards. While he hasn’t formally retired, his focus remains firmly on his health and well-being.
