Wed Nov 20 18:14:54 UTC 2024: ## CBSE Denies 15% Syllabus Reduction for 2025 Board Exams
**NEW DELHI** – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has refuted reports circulating online and in print media claiming a 15% reduction in the syllabus for classes 10 and 12 board exams in 2025. The board specifically denied claims suggesting open book exams for select subjects.
In an official statement, CBSE clarified that no changes have been made to its examination or internal assessment methods, and no official announcement regarding such changes has been issued. The board emphasized that any policy decisions will be communicated exclusively through its official website and circulars.
While the Ministry of Education has reportedly requested CBSE to explore the possibility of conducting two board exams annually, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020, CBSE maintains that the current syllabus remains unchanged for the 2025 exams. The government is reportedly considering implementing this two-exam system for class 12 students starting in 2026, potentially in June.
CBSE has confirmed that the theory exams for classes 10 and 12 in 2025 will commence on February 15, 2025, but the complete exam schedule is yet to be released. Practical exams, projects, and internal assessments for the 2024-25 academic session will begin on January 1, 2025.
The board also reiterated its earlier announcement that it will not release toppers’ lists or overall merit rankings for the 2024 class 10 and 12 board exams. CBSE will not calculate or publicize percentage scores. The board urges students and parents to rely only on official CBSE communications for accurate information.
