Wed Nov 20 23:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Braces for Chilly Winter: Temperatures Plunge Below 10 Degrees

**Hyderabad, November 20, 2024** – A significant cold wave has swept across Telangana, with temperatures plummeting below 10 degrees Celsius in some areas. Overnight temperatures have dropped by 7-8 degrees over the past week, leading to a sharp increase in the intensity of the cold.

The impact is particularly felt in rural areas, where residents are reporting significantly lower temperatures, leading many to stay indoors earlier in the evenings. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the next three days, warning of continued cold conditions across all 33 districts of Telangana.

The town of Kohir in Sangareddy district recorded a low of 9.5 degrees Celsius on Monday night – the first time single-digit temperatures have been recorded this season. This represents a significant drop from last year’s temperature of 16.4 degrees Celsius at the same time. The IMD attributed this sharp decrease of 5 degrees in a single day to the cold wave. They forecast overnight temperatures to remain between 10-13 degrees Celsius for the next three days. The cold wave is expected to continue to affect the entire state.
