**Bulandshahr:** A head constable, Subhash Chand, stationed at Baghpat police lines, attempted suicide by consuming poison on Sunday. Chand, a resident of Aurangabad Ahir village in Bulandshahr district, had recently returned from duty at the Garh Mela.
After reporting to the police lines, he went to a multi-purpose hall where he ingested the poisonous substance. Fellow officers found him in a critical condition and immediately rushed him to the district hospital.
Given the severity of his condition, doctors referred him to a higher medical center in Meerut. ASP NP Singh visited the district hospital to inquire about the situation. Chand’s family has been informed and has travelled to Meerut.
ASP Singh stated that Chand is currently undergoing treatment in Meerut and is not yet conscious. An investigation into the cause of the incident will be conducted once his condition improves. Preliminary reports suggest that Chand may have been under stress in recent days. While his colleagues noticed his withdrawn behavior, he did not disclose the reason for his distress.
