**NEW DELHI** – Xiaomi has officially launched its Redmi A4 5G in India, marking the first Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 powered phone available in the country. The device, priced competitively at ₹8,499 ($100) for the 4GB+64GB variant and ₹9,499 ($112) for the 4GB+128GB model, will be available from November 27th via mi.com, Amazon India, and other retailers.
The Redmi A4 5G boasts a 6.88-inch HD+ IPS LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate, an 8MP front camera, and a 50MP main rear camera. It runs Xiaomi’s HyperOS based on Android 14, promising two years of software updates and four years of security patches. Powering the device is a 5160mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging, although a 33W charger is included in the box. Additional features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, headphone jack, FM radio, and microSD card support. The phone comes in Sparkle Purple and Starry Black color options.
While the phone’s affordability makes 5G connectivity accessible to a wider market, some question the practical need for 5G in budget devices.
