**Washington, D.C.** – Ken Martin, chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, announced his candidacy for chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Tuesday. Martin, who boasts extensive connections within the DNC, enters the race with a significant head start, already securing 83 endorsements from DNC members.

Martin’s deep roots within the party, including his tenure as state party chair since 2011 and national party vice chair since 2017, position him as a formidable contender. He currently leads the Association of State Democratic Chairs, further strengthening his ties to the voting members of the DNC. His campaign highlights his experience as a behind-the-scenes operator, contrasting with other potential candidates who may have more prominent public profiles.

While other potential candidates, including Wisconsin Democratic chairman Ben Wikler, former New York State Assembly member Michael Blake, and former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, are considering bids, Martin’s early endorsements present a considerable challenge. Current DNC chairman Jaime Harrison is not seeking re-election. The election is scheduled for early 2025.
