Wed Nov 20 14:08:18 UTC 2024: ## Jaguar Unveils Controversial New Logo, Sparking Online Debate
**Miami, FL –** Luxury carmaker Jaguar has unveiled a dramatically redesigned logo, sparking a wave of online debate. The 102-year-old brand replaced its uppercase lettering with a new, lower-case gold design, described by the company as a “powerful celebration of modernity.” The new logo features a custom font with only the letters “G” and “U” in uppercase, which Jaguar claims enhances visual harmony. Other branding changes include a redesigned “leaper” mascot and a new monogram incorporating the “J” and “R” from the brand name.
The rebranding, however, hasn’t been universally welcomed. Tesla CEO Elon Musk is among those voicing skepticism. The change coincides with Jaguar’s strategic shift towards electric vehicles, with plans for a fully electric model slated for production in 2026. In the US, Jaguar’s current lineup is reduced to the F-Pace SUV; the brand has ceased selling cars entirely in the British market during this transition.
Gerry McGovern, Chief Creative Officer at Jaguar Land Rover, stated the new branding is a “reimagining” that aims to recapture Jaguar’s essence while remaining relevant to a contemporary audience. The full effect of the new branding on Jaguar vehicles will be revealed at an event during Miami Art Week on December 2nd.
