Tue Nov 19 08:14:03 UTC 2024: ## Body of Missing Woman Found Buried in Alappuzha; Suspect Confesses
**Alappuzha, Kerala, November 19, 2024** – The Alappuzha police have solved the mystery surrounding the disappearance of 40-year-old Vijayalakshmi, whose body was discovered buried near Karoor. Vijayalakshmi, a resident of Karunagapally in Kollam, had been reported missing since November 6th.
Police arrested 50-year-old Jayachandran of Karoor on Monday. During interrogation, he confessed to murdering Vijayalakshmi and burying her body at a construction site near his home. The breakthrough came after investigators traced Vijayalakshmi’s abandoned mobile phone, found on a KSRTC bus in Ernakulam, revealing frequent contact with Jayachandran.
According to police, Jayachandran lured Vijayalakshmi to his house on November 6th under the pretense of a visit to the Ambalappuzha temple. He allegedly killed her during an argument stemming from suspicions of infidelity, striking her on the head with an iron rod. His wife and child were away at the time of the murder.
Both Vijayalakshmi and Jayachandran worked at the Azheekkal fish harbor near Karunagapally and had been in a relationship for two years. Police are investigating whether financial dealings contributed to the crime. While a preliminary examination confirms the body is Vijayalakshmi’s, official identification is pending. Jayachandran remains in custody.
