Tue Nov 19 07:14:46 UTC 2024: ## NATO Nations Distribute War Preparedness Booklets Amidst Rising Tensions
**STOCKHOLM/HELSINKI** – Following the US approval of Ukraine’s use of long-range weapons against Russia, several NATO nations are taking steps to prepare their citizens for potential conflict. Sweden and Finland, recent additions to the alliance, have initiated the distribution of millions of booklets providing guidance on how to cope during a wartime scenario.
The booklets, containing instructions on how to respond to disruptions in communication, electricity outages, and other wartime challenges, are being widely distributed. They also advise citizens on essential supplies to stockpile, including water, food, and medical necessities, with a specific emphasis on parents needing to prepare for their children.
Sweden is distributing 5 million booklets under the title “If War Comes,” marking the fifth time such a publication has been distributed since World War II. The government cited escalating global tensions and the proximity of ongoing conflict as reasons for the initiative. The booklet has already been downloaded 55,000 times online.
Finland has also printed and distributed similar informational pamphlets. Reports indicate that 58% of Finnish citizens have already stocked up on emergency supplies in anticipation of a potential conflict. Norway has also joined in, distributing 2.2 million booklets.
These actions highlight the growing unease among NATO members in the face of escalating geopolitical tensions stemming from the ongoing war in Ukraine.
