Tue Nov 19 11:20:00 UTC 2024: ## JEE Main Application Numbers Lag Behind Last Year’s Pace, NTA Sends Confirmation Emails to Avoid Issues

**New Delhi, [Date]** – The application window for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, the gateway to India’s top engineering colleges, is nearing its November 22nd deadline. While over 7.8 lakh students have already registered as of Friday, the pace is slower than previous years, raising concerns about potential application hurdles.

Officials estimate a final registration number around 12 lakh, significantly lower than the 12.21 lakh applicants in the first session last year. Amit Ahuja, a career counseling expert at Kota’s Allen Career Institute, attributes the slower registration to difficulties students are encountering in the online application process.

To address past issues, the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the JEE Main, is implementing a new system of confirmation emails at each stage of the application. These emails, sent after Steps 1, 2, and 3 (application number generation, document upload, and fee payment), are designed to prevent discrepancies and ensure applicants receive their admit cards. Ahuja highlights that last year, some students who paid the fee did not receive admit cards, leading to application fee refunds. He urges students to regularly check their emails for confirmation and to ensure their application is successfully submitted. The final confirmation email allows applicants to download their completed application form using their date of birth. Students are advised to complete their applications well before the deadline to avoid last-minute complications.
