**Kolkata, India** – Bharat Dev Burman, husband of renowned Bengali actress Moon Moon Sen and father of actresses Raima and Riya Sen, passed away at his Kolkata residence on Sunday, November 19th, at the age of 83. He reportedly passed away before an ambulance could arrive to transport him to a hospital due to his deteriorating health.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Burman’s residence to offer condolences. She expressed her sorrow, noting that Burman was a “very good person” and that his death was a “great loss.” In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Banerjee described Burman as “loving and affectionate” and shared that he considered her part of his family. At the time of the visit, only daughter Riya Sen was present; Moon Moon and Raima Sen were in Delhi and expected to arrive shortly.

Burman, a respected figure in the film industry, was married to Moon Moon Sen since 1978. His passing marks a significant loss for the Sen family and the Bengali film community.
