Tue Nov 19 04:19:04 UTC 2024: ## Maoist Sighting Prompts Increased Security in Karnataka’s Malnad Region
**Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka, November 19, 2024** – A heightened security alert is underway in the Malnad region of Karnataka following a confirmed visit by four suspected Maoists last week. The individuals, identified as Mundagaru Latha, John alias Jayanna, and two others, reportedly spent two nights at the home of Subbe Gowda and Rathnamma in Kadegundi village, Koppa taluk, Chikkamagaluru district. The suspected Maoists shared a meal with the family on November 9th and 10th.
Following notification of the incident, Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) personnel arrived late on November 10th and conducted questioning of the family. Combing operations have been significantly intensified across the area in response to this suspected Maoist activity.
