**Atlanta, GA** – Lamora Williams, 24, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of her two young sons, Ja’Karter Penn, 1, and Ke’Yaunte Penn, 2. Williams was also given an additional 35-year sentence on related charges. The horrific incident occurred in October 2017.
Williams initially called 911, claiming to have discovered her sons dead upon returning home from work and leaving them in the care of a caregiver. She described a disturbing scene to dispatchers, stating the oven was on top of one son and the other was on the floor with visible injuries. The children’s father, Jameel Penn, also called 911 after receiving a video call from Williams showing the deceased children.
Police initially reported burn marks on the children, but a medical examiner’s report determined the boys’ heads were placed inside an overturned oven, resulting in fatal thermal injuries from prolonged exposure to dry heat. The autopsy indicated this exposure would have taken a significant amount of time.
An arrest warrant revealed that Williams knowingly and intentionally placed her sons in the oven and turned it on sometime between midnight on October 12, 2017, and 11 pm on October 13, 2017. Despite pleading not guilty, Williams was convicted on 14 counts. Her mother reported that Williams had pre-existing mental health issues and requested she be placed on suicide watch while incarcerated.
