**Chennai, November 18, 2024** – Tamil Nadu will receive ₹719.76 crore to upgrade its power transmission system under the Green Energy Corridor-II (GEC-II) scheme, according to a report released by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). This investment will support the integration of 4,000 MW of renewable energy capacity into the state’s grid, involving the construction of 624 circuit kilometers (ckm) of transmission lines and 2,200 MVA of substations.
The GEC-II scheme aims to integrate 19 GW of renewable energy capacity nationwide. While the initial total project cost for all participating states was ₹12,031.33 crore, with a Central Financial Assistance (CFA) of ₹3,970.34 crore, some states, including Tamil Nadu, requested and received revisions.
