**Kozhikode, November 18, 2024** – The Kozhikode City Police have seized assets belonging to a 23-year-old drug trafficker, marking the first such forfeiture under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in the city. Albin Sebastian, a Peruvannamuzhi native, was arrested in May 2024 with ₹2 crore worth of MDMA, LSD, and ecstasy tablets. His arrest followed a police raid at a rented house in Edakkad. Two accomplices, Shine Shaji and Jumi Punnapra, were also arrested.

The forfeited assets include a luxury motorcycle, purchased with proceeds from drug trafficking and registered under his sister’s name. Police have initiated forfeiture proceedings under Section 68 F of the NDPS Act and submitted details to the Chennai-based Appellate Tribunal under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act.

According to police, Sebastian targeted young people in Kozhikode after failing to find work in Armenia and joining a Bengaluru-based smuggling ring. His family was reportedly unaware of his illegal activities.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Narcotic Cell) K.A. Bose stated that the police are intensifying efforts to identify and seize assets from drug traffickers and their associates, collaborating with Excise squads and other state agencies.
