**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, November 18, 2024** – The National Centre for Aquaculture (NaCSA) launched Anti-microbial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week (November 18-24) in Andhra Pradesh, aiming to educate shrimp farmers about the dangers of AMR and promote best practices to prevent its spread.

A key awareness program was held in Viswanadhapalli village, Krishna district, on Monday. MPEDA officials, NaCSA representatives, Fisheries Department personnel, and Coastal Aquaculture Authority (CAA) officers collaborated to educate farmers on improved aquaculture management techniques. The theme for AMR Week 2024 is “Educate, Advocate, Act now,” according to NaCSA Regional Coordinator N.P. Chandrashekar. The initiative underscores the importance of responsible aquaculture practices in combating the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance in the shrimp farming industry.
