**Caesarea, Israel** – Two flares landed in the courtyard of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence in Caesarea on Saturday, prompting a security investigation and condemnation from Israeli officials. Police and the Shin Bet internal security agency confirmed the incident, stating that the Prime Minister and his family were not present at the time.
The incident is being described as serious and a dangerous escalation, following a drone attack targeting the same residence on October 19th, which Hezbollah claimed responsibility for. President Isaac Herzog spoke with the head of the Shin Bet, urging a swift investigation and apprehension of those responsible.
The attack comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. Earlier on Saturday, Hezbollah launched a rocket barrage into northern Israel, targeting military sites including a naval base near Haifa. This resulted in injuries at a synagogue in Haifa and prompted Israeli retaliatory airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. The Israeli military intercepted some of the projectiles fired from Lebanon.
While the perpetrators of the flare attack remain unknown, the timing and location raise concerns about potential further escalation in the conflict. The investigation is ongoing.
