**Mangaluru, November 17, 2024** – Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swami of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam has emphasized the need for India to strengthen its cultural and spiritual foundations alongside its burgeoning economic growth. Speaking during his Vijaya Yatra in Dharmasthala, Karnataka on Friday, the seer stressed the importance of preserving and promoting Indian ethos and values.
Swami Vijayendra Saraswati advocated for the establishment of Dharma Prachara Parishats in every South Indian temple to promote Indian science (including Ayurveda), traditional arts, and literature. He highlighted the rich positive aspects of Sanatana Dharma, suggesting that its values be attractively packaged and disseminated globally. He also emphasized the importance of the dignity of labor, advocating for equal respect for all professions, regardless of social status.
The Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, the seer explained, is actively working towards these goals. Initiatives include the establishment of an art school, a priest training school, and various cultural projects across India, from an English-medium school in Meghalaya to planned cultural centers in Arunachal Pradesh and the Andaman Islands. The Peetam also intends to publish unpublished Kashmiri literature.
The seer’s Vijaya Yatra will continue across Karnataka and other states, concluding in Chennai on December 1st. His message underscores a call for a holistic approach to national development, prioritizing both material progress and the preservation of India’s rich cultural heritage.
