Sun Nov 17 19:57:34 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Imposes Strict Measures as Air Quality Plummets

**New Delhi, India** – Delhi is battling a severe air pollution crisis, with air quality reaching hazardous levels. On Thursday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) soared to 432, the highest of the year so far, prompting the Delhi government to implement emergency measures.

Starting Friday morning at 8 AM, construction and demolition activities across the city will be halted, with exemptions only granted for projects related to national security, healthcare, and government buildings. A ban on BS-3 diesel vehicles has also been imposed citywide. Furthermore, online classes for students up to the 5th grade will be implemented across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) until further notice.

The measures aim to combat the alarming pollution levels exacerbated by the onset of winter and dense fog. An AQI above 200 is considered unhealthy, highlighting the severity of the current situation. The Delhi government hopes these restrictions will improve air quality and protect public health.
