**Bengaluru, November 18, 2024** – Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashok, today challenged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate allegations of corruption against the Federation of Wine Merchants’ Association. This comes in response to Siddaramaiah’s demand for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide evidence supporting allegations that the Congress government is using liquor sales to fund elections in Maharashtra.
Ashok stated that the allegations against the state government originated from the liquor association itself, and therefore, an SIT investigation into the association’s activities is warranted. He clarified that the Prime Minister merely referenced the association’s claims, and the government should act against the association if the allegations are unsubstantiated. Ashok urged the Chief Minister to focus on addressing these specific accusations rather than requesting evidence from the Prime Minister.
