Mon Nov 18 04:16:58 UTC 2024: ## Kanakadasa Jayanti and Kum Bha Kalsa Procession to be Held in Udupi

**Udupi, Nov 16:** A combined celebration of Kanakadasa’s 537th Jayanti and a 351 Kum Bha Kalsa procession will be held in Udupi on November 18th, announced Vagenappa Elmalli, treasurer of the Udupi District Shri Kanakadasa Seva Sangha.

The event, organized jointly by the Udupi Sri Krishna Matha Paryaya Puttige Matha and the Seva Sangha, will commence at 11:00 AM with the flag-off of the Kum Bha Kalsa procession by Prabhavati K.R., state president of the Karnataka Pradesh Kurubara Sangha’s women’s wing. The procession will proceed from Udupi Jodukatte to the Kanakadasa Mandira at the Krishna Matha.

At 1:00 PM, Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji, Paryaya Puttige Matha Adhyaksha, will perform a special pooja to Kanakadasa’s statue. This will be followed by a kirtan performance by Padigaaru Lakshminarayana Upadhyaya and his troupe from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.

A concluding ceremony will be held at 2:30 PM in the Rajangana of the Krishna Matha, featuring blessings from Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji. Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj and Vidwan Gopalacharya will be honored with the ‘Bhakta Kanaka Puraskara’ award during this ceremony. The event is expected to draw large crowds and celebrate the legacy of the renowned Haridasa saint.
