Mon Nov 18 17:54:58 UTC 2024: ## Uttar Pradesh Implements Advanced Fire Safety Measures for Maha Kumbh Mela 2025
**Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh:** The Uttar Pradesh government is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. A significant focus is on preventing fire incidents, with substantial upgrades to firefighting infrastructure and technology.
Authorities have drastically increased the number of firefighters, specialized fire vehicles, and temporary fire stations from 43 in 2019 to 50 in 2025. The number of temporary fire posts will rise from 15 to 20, and fire surveillance towers will increase from 43 to 50. A massive increase in fire hydrants—from 4,200 in 2019 to 7,000 this year—and a doubling of fire water reservoir tanks are also planned. Personnel numbers are also significantly up, from 1,551 in 2019 to 2,071 in 2025, with fire vehicles increasing from 166 to 351.
A key addition for 2025 is the deployment of AI-powered fire detection cameras. These cameras will provide real-time alerts to a control room, aiming for a response time of under two minutes to any fire incident. This advanced technology complements the already existing 200 specially trained rescue personnel and 5,000 specialized fire-fighting tools on standby.
The Chief Fire Officer of Prayagraj and Kumbh Mela Coordinator, Pramod Sharma, stated that the aim is to make the 2025 Mela completely fire-free. He highlighted the significant improvement in fire safety measures compared to the 2019 Mela, where only 55 fires were reported, resulting in no casualties, a stark contrast to the 612 incidents and 6 deaths in 2013. The enhanced safety measures reflect the Yogi government’s commitment to prioritizing safety during the religious gathering.
