Sun Nov 17 03:02:18 UTC 2024: ## Deadly Attack on Balochistan Security Post Kills Seven, Internet Suspended
**KARACHI, PAKISTAN – November 17, 2024** – At least seven people, including security personnel, were killed and ten more injured in an attack on a security checkpoint in Balochistan province on Saturday, November 16th. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a banned separatist group, claimed responsibility for the assault in Kalat district.
Following the attack, mobile internet services were temporarily suspended in parts of Balochistan by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), citing public safety concerns in the wake of a recent rise in terrorist activity. The PTA stated the suspension was implemented at the direction of relevant authorities.
While Geo News reported the casualties, neither the provincial government nor senior law enforcement officials have yet released official statements. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack and offered condolences to the victims’ families.
This attack follows a suicide bombing at Quetta Railway station last week that killed at least 27 and injured many more. The recent escalation in violence by outlawed separatist groups in Balochistan is causing significant concern.
