**MEXICO CITY** – In a historic win for Denmark, 21-year-old Victoria Kjaer has been crowned Miss Universe 2024. This marks the first time Denmark has ever won the prestigious pageant. The competition, held in Mexico, saw a strong showing from Latin American contestants, with seven of the top twelve finalists hailing from the region.
Kjaer beat out a field of 51 finalists, ultimately triumphing over first runner-up Marla Fernanda Beltran of Mexico and second runner-up Cnidimma Adetshina of Nigeria. The top five also included representatives from Thailand and Venezuela. The final round involved a swimsuit competition and an evening gown segment, followed by a question-and-answer session with the judges.
India’s representative, Rhea Singha, a 19-year-old model and graduate of GLS University, Ahmedabad, reached the top 30 but did not advance to the final 12. Singha previously won Miss Teen Earth 2023 and Miss Teen Gujarat 2020, and placed in the top six of Miss Teen Universe 2023. She was crowned Miss Universe India 2024 in September.
The final twelve contestants included representatives from Bolivia, Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Nigeria, Russia, Chile, Thailand, Denmark, Canada, and Peru. The event highlighted the diverse cultures represented, with each contestant showcasing their nation’s unique heritage.
