Sun Nov 17 13:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Scorsese’s “Saints” Series Explores Human Struggles Behind Religious Icons

**New York, NY** – Martin Scorsese’s new Fox Nation series, “Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints,” offers a deeply human look at the lives of eight Catholic saints. Premiering this Sunday, the series, hosted and narrated by Scorsese himself, dramatizes the stories of both well-known figures like Joan of Arc and John the Baptist, and lesser-known saints such as Maximilian Kolbe, a Polish priest who died in Auschwitz in place of another man.

The series, created by Matti Leshem of New Mandate Films and written by frequent Scorsese collaborator Kent Jones, is presented in two parts. The first four episodes debut weekly, focusing on a diverse range of saints. The second part, airing in April, will feature figures such as Francis of Assisi and Mary Magdalene. The scripts were shaped by extensive theological discussions between Scorsese and Jones.

Scorsese, who credits finding solace in St. Patrick’s Cathedral as a child, explained his fascination with the concept of sainthood and the need for faith-based entertainment to possess genuine depth. The series aims to go beyond hagiography, emphasizing the struggles and complexities of these individuals, reflecting Scorsese’s signature focus on flawed yet compelling characters.
