Sun Nov 17 00:47:20 IST 2024: ## UFC Heavyweight Champ Jon Jones Wants to Ditch Belt for “BMF” Title Fight Against Alex Pereira

**New York, NY** – UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is considering relinquishing his title to face light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira for a newly created “BMF” (Baddest Mother F***er) championship belt. Jones, who defends his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in Madison Square Garden, sparked controversy by dismissing a potential fight with interim champion Tom Aspinall.

Instead, Jones has expressed a strong interest in facing Pereira, suggesting a showdown for a second “BMF” title. Both fighters already hold championships in two weight classes, making a fight for a third belt a highly appealing proposition. Jones sees this as a fitting culmination of their careers, stating, “We both have two belts in two weight classes and the night we fought we’d both be fighting for our third belt, which would be the ‘BMF.’ How cool would that be?”

However, Jones’s preference for a Pereira fight has created complications. He criticized the UFC’s decision to create an interim heavyweight title after his injury forced him to postpone a fight with Miocic, calling the interim title fight between Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich “premature.” He believes the interim title only served to maintain the prestige of the Madison Square Garden event, creating unnecessary confusion.

“The interim championship shouldn’t have been there in the first place,” Jones stated. “They should have just been a replacement fight. Making it an interim title fight was premature.”

Jones is adamant that he would willingly vacate the heavyweight title to pursue the “BMF” fight, prioritizing a fight on his own terms with a substantial payout. The future of the heavyweight division, and the potential for a second “BMF” title, remains uncertain pending Jones’s performance against Miocic at UFC 309.
