**Caesarea, Israel –** Two flares landed near the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea on Saturday evening, prompting a security investigation and condemnation from President Isaac Herzog. While the Prime Minister and his family were unharmed as they were not at the residence at the time, authorities described the incident as a “serious escalation.”
The joint statement released by Israeli police and the Shin Bet internal security agency confirmed the flares landed in the courtyard outside the residence. An investigation is underway to determine who was responsible for the attack.
This incident follows a drone attack on the same residence on October 19th, claimed by the Iran-backed Hezbollah group. At the time, Netanyahu accused Hezbollah of attempting assassination.
The flare attack coincides with heightened tensions in the region. Earlier on Saturday, Hezbollah launched a rocket barrage into northern Israel, striking a synagogue in Haifa and injuring two people. The Israeli military intercepted some of the approximately 10 projectiles fired. Hezbollah claimed responsibility, targeting what it described as military sites. Israel has responded with increased bombing of Hezbollah targets in Lebanon and deployed ground troops, escalating the conflict that began with cross-border exchanges of fire in September.
President Herzog expressed his concern over the increasing violence and stressed the urgency of apprehending those responsible for the flare incident. The investigation continues, with authorities working to determine the perpetrators and their motives.
