**WUXI, CHINA – November 17, 2024** – A 21-year-old male student, surnamed Xu, stabbed eight people to death and injured 17 others at the Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Yixing county on Saturday evening. Police apprehended Xu at the scene. Authorities say Xu, who had failed his exams and was dissatisfied with his internship pay, launched the attack to vent his frustrations.
This marks the second deadly attack in China this week. Last week, a man drove a car into a crowd at a Zhuhai sports facility, resulting in 35 deaths and 43 injuries. These incidents follow a string of similar attacks in recent months, including a knife attack on children in Beijing in October, a knife attack in a Shanghai supermarket in September, and a fatal stabbing of a Japanese schoolboy in Shenzhen in September.
