Sun Nov 17 13:16:27 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Minister Accuses BJP-Ruled States of Deliberately Increasing Pollution with Diesel Buses

**New Delhi:** Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Saturday accused BJP-ruled states of deliberately sending diesel buses to Delhi, exacerbating the city’s pollution levels. During an inspection of the Anand Vihar bus depot, Rai stated that 70% of Delhi’s pollution originates from outside the capital, primarily from BJP-governed states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand.

Rai claimed these states are knowingly contributing to Delhi’s pollution crisis by sending outdated BS-3 and BS-4 diesel buses. He further alleged that despite previous requests to these states to refrain from sending polluting buses, especially during the winter months when smog is prevalent, they continue to do so, even with Delhi’s Stage 3 Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in effect. He cited a previous visit to Anand Vihar where he witnessed numerous buses from Uttar Pradesh causing significant air pollution. Rai called the actions of these BJP governments “beyond comprehension.”
