**Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, November 17, 2024** – Sivaganga district police have arrested a 58-year-old man, Sony Raja, known for his extensive criminal record spanning Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Raja, with over 140 cases against him, was apprehended on Sunday following the investigation of a recent burglary.
The arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by Chidambaram, a 60-year-old building contractor, who reported the theft of 43 sovereigns of gold jewelry and 15 kilograms of silver from his locked house in Kandramanickam near Karaikudi on October 29th. Superintendent of Police Dongare Praveen Umesh formed special teams to investigate the crime.
Sub-Inspector Saktivel and his team subsequently arrested Raja, who confessed to the crime and led police to the recovery of the stolen jewelry. A second suspect, 35-year-old Alagarsami from Mavilipatti, was also arrested. Police stated that the duo targeted locked homes in towns, observing them during the day before burglarizing them at night.
Both suspects have been charged and presented before a court. The investigation is ongoing.
