LUCKNOW, INDIA – November 16, 2024 – The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has announced a revised date for the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) preliminary exam 2024, following a four-day protest by aspirants. The exam, initially scheduled for December 7th and 8th, will now be held on December 22nd in two shifts. The change comes after thousands of students protested against the original two-day plan and the proposed normalization process for candidate selection.

The UPPSC yielded to the protestors’ demands for a single-day exam, reverting to the old exam format. The revised exam will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on December 22nd.

While the PCS prelims exam date has been finalized, the UPPSC has postponed the Review Officer (RO)/Assistant Review Officer (ARO) preliminary examination. A committee has been formed to review the aspirants’ demands regarding this exam, and a new date will be announced following the committee’s report. Following the announcement, student protests outside the UPPSC headquarters in Prayagraj concluded.
