**New Delhi, November 16, 2024** – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced today the appointment of seasoned diplomat Anurag Srivastava as India’s next High Commissioner to Mauritius. Srivastava, a 1999-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, currently serves as Joint Secretary in the Nepal-Bhutan division of the MEA. He will succeed K Nandini Singla.

Srivastava brings extensive experience to the role, having served as MEA spokesperson and as India’s ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union. His career also includes postings at the Indian High Commission in Colombo, where he oversaw development projects in Sri Lanka, and at India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva. He holds degrees in engineering and business management, a postgraduate diploma in diplomatic studies from Oxford University, and has worked in various divisions within the MEA, including the Pakistan-Afghanistan-Iran division.

The appointment is significant given Mauritius’s growing strategic importance in the Indian Ocean region. Srivastava is expected to assume his new position shortly.
