**Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India – November 15, 2024** – Millions of devotees thronged the banks of the Ganges River today to observe Kartik Purnima, a highly auspicious Hindu festival. The full moon day, falling on November 15th this year, is considered particularly sacred, with many believing that taking a holy bath (Ganga snan) and offering prayers (deepdan) brings blessings and ensures a happy life.

Reports indicate that over 3.5 million pilgrims visited Tigri Dham alone to participate in the sacred rituals. The ghats echoed with chants of “Har Har Gange” as devotees immersed themselves in the river. Similar scenes of mass participation were witnessed across Uttar Pradesh, including at Makhdumpur ghat. Authorities reported slower-than-usual traffic due to the large influx of pilgrims.
