Fri Nov 15 23:09:17 IST 2024: ## New Italian Visa Application Center Opens in Bengaluru to Meet Surging Demand
**Bengaluru, November 15, 2024** – A new visa application center dedicated exclusively to Italian visa applications opened today in Bengaluru’s Vasant Nagar. The facility, a partnership between the Italian Consulate General in Bengaluru and VFS Global, aims to address the rapidly increasing demand for Italian visas from Indian citizens.
Consul General Alfonso Tagliaferri stated that the center will significantly improve service quality and handle the growing number of applications, a trend further fueled by the recently signed Italy-India Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement. The Bengaluru Consulate, operating for the past year, serves Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. The new center is expected to streamline and expedite the visa application process.
The demand is substantial: Italian visa offices across India processed 54,200 applications in the first half of 2024, a 28% increase compared to the same period last year. The total number of applications processed in India is projected to exceed 100,000 by year’s end, a stark contrast to the 67,000 processed in 2022. In 2023 alone, the Italian embassy and consulates saw a 36% increase, processing 91,600 applications.
VFS Global’s Chief Operating Officer for South Asia, Yummi Talwar, highlighted the company’s long-standing relationship with the Italian government, dating back to 2004. The new center is expected to significantly improve the visa application experience for Indian citizens seeking to travel to Italy.
