**Bengaluru, November 13, 2024** – India’s national blind cricket team is poised to defend its title at the 4th T20 World Cup for the Blind, set to take place in Lahore and Multan, Pakistan from November 22nd to December 3rd. The 17-member squad, selected after rigorous trials in Gurugram, boasts a mix of experienced players from across the country, categorized by their level of visual impairment.
Having achieved a hat-trick of wins in previous tournaments, defeating Pakistan twice and Bangladesh once, the team is confident of extending its winning streak. CABI Chairman, Dr. Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, expressed excitement about the challenge of facing Pakistan again, emphasizing the need for greater opportunities for visually impaired cricketers.
The team, which has been training in Gurugram with support from Samarthanam and CABI, is awaiting final clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs after receiving the NOC from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. They are scheduled to travel to Pakistan via the Wagah Border on November 21st, pending approval.
The tournament will feature teams from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, alongside India. IndusInd Bank’s sponsorship has been crucial in supporting the team’s preparation. CABI President Buse Gowda expressed gratitude for this support, highlighting the selection of a highly skilled squad. General Secretary Shailender Yadav confirmed the team’s readiness and hopeful anticipation of the ministry’s approval.
