**Chennai, November 16, 2024** – The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) Madras and Palakkad have announced a new collaborative initiative to enhance learning opportunities for students in data science. A memorandum of agreement signed Thursday allows eligible students in the BS (Data Science and Applications) program at IIT Madras to take courses at IIT Palakkad, gaining access to shared resources, research internships, and immersive summer programs.
The agreement offers several key advantages: IIT Madras students can transfer credits earned at IIT Palakkad; IIT Palakkad students can enroll in the IIT Madras BS program; and students from both institutions will benefit from expanded internship opportunities. IIT Palakkad Director A. Seshadri Sekhar welcomed the opportunity to host exceptional IIT Madras students, while IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti lauded the initiative as a crucial step towards ensuring quality education for all deserving students.
This collaboration builds on IIT Madras’s existing partnerships with other institutions, including IIT Gandhinagar, IIIT Hyderabad, and the Chennai Mathematical Institute, which already offer campus courses to eligible final-year BS Data Science students.
