Fri Nov 15 23:55:02 UTC 2024: ## Bihar Teacher Recruitment Exam Results Announced: Thousands Pass, but Shortages Remain

**Patna, Bihar:** The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the results of the third phase of its teacher recruitment examination. While 38,900 candidates have passed the exam out of 275,916 applicants, a significant shortfall remains in filling vacant teaching positions.

The results reveal a gap of 5,578 teachers compared to the 44,478 vacancies in schools. This shortage is evident across all grade levels. For classes 1-5, 21,911 candidates passed, while 25,505 positions remain unfilled. Similarly, for classes 6-8 (Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Hindi, English, Sanskrit, and Urdu), 16,989 candidates passed against 18,973 vacancies.

The disparity is particularly stark in certain subjects. For example, only 3,054 candidates passed the Urdu language exam, against 5,595 vacant positions.

The Bihar Education Department will now verify the documents of successful candidates. This process will include scrutiny of photographs, mark sheets, caste certificates, and residency certificates. Those who submitted certificates for incurable diseases or disabilities will have their documents verified by the Civil Surgeons’ offices. Any fraudulent certificates will result in legal action.

Teachers have until November 22nd to apply for transfers. Postings are expected to begin in December, with allocation based on categories (disabled, widowed, etc.) and age. The department will issue a formal posting letter only after verification.
