Johannesburg: Sanju Samson roared back to form with a stunning century in the fourth T20I against South Africa. After a relatively quiet performance in the previous two matches, Samson smashed his way to 109 runs off just 56 balls, a knock studded with nine sixes and six fours. His strike rate was an impressive 194.64.
Samson reached his half-century in just 28 balls and then accelerated to his century in a further 23. He displayed a measured start before unleashing a flurry of boundaries, particularly against Gerald Coetzee, who conceded the runs that brought up Samson’s century in the 18th over.
Samson’s explosive innings was instrumental in a 185-run second-wicket partnership with Tilak Varma, who also scored a century (100 off 41 balls, including nine sixes and six fours). This impressive display of power hitting overshadowed Samson’s recent dip in form, solidifying his return to top form in the series.
