Dehradun, [Date]: A major accident occurred late Wednesday night on the Delhi Highway near Asharodi check post in the Clement Town area, claiming one life and leaving three injured. The accident involved six vehicles, which collided and overturned, causing a pileup.
The incident occurred when Sales Tax officials were conducting routine checks at the Asharodi check post. They, along with a PRR (Police Response Team) officer, signaled a utility vehicle to stop. However, the sudden braking of the utility vehicle led to a chain reaction, causing several vehicles behind it to collide.
The impact was further exacerbated by a speeding container truck which collided with the rear end of the vehicles. Two dumpers following the container also collided and overturned. A car was also flipped over, and a bike sustained damage in the accident.
The injured, including two Sales Tax officers, were rushed to the hospital by Clement Town police who arrived at the scene. The accident underscores the importance of maintaining caution on the roads and highlights the dangers of sudden braking and speeding.
