**Centurion, South Africa:** Young Hyderabad batter Tilak Varma achieved a milestone on Wednesday, smashing his first ever T20 century in a thrilling match against South Africa. Varma’s unbeaten century came off just 51 balls, with his second fifty coming off a blistering 19 deliveries. The left-handed batsman credits his captain, Suryakumar Yadav, for giving him the opportunity to bat at number three.
“Suryakumar came to my hotel room before the match and told me I would be batting at number three,” Varma revealed. “He said it was a great opportunity for me to prove myself.”
Varma seized the opportunity, showcasing his powerful hitting with seven sixes and eight fours in his remarkable innings. While he thrived in the new position, it meant Suryakumar had to relinquish his usual spot. However, the captain was happy to support his teammate’s success.
