**Tonk, Rajasthan:** Violence erupted in the Devli-Uniyara Assembly constituency of Tonk district during the by-election on Wednesday night after an independent candidate, Naresh Meena, slapped the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Amit Chaudhary. This incident sparked widespread unrest, leading to arson, stone pelting, and a road blockade.

The incident occurred in Samravata village during the polling process. Following the assault, SDM Chaudhary filed a case against Meena under 10 sections of the Indian Penal Code. Police arrested Meena soon after.

Tensions escalated as Meena’s supporters retaliated, engaging in violent acts like setting vehicles on fire, pelting stones, and blocking roads. Security forces intervened, resorting to tear gas to disperse the mob and control the situation.
